Welcome to my blog about what it is like to be a hairstylist! I post a lot of behind the scenes footage, beauty tips, current events at my salon and beauty trends. Join me as I discover where this journey will take me!
I am a hairstylist in Austin, Texas. I am very lucky to be born and raised in the state’s Capitol and the Live Music Capitol. We are known for South by Southwest, Austin City Limits and keepin’ it weird. I enjoy cutting and coloring hair behind the chair, hairdressing backstage for runway, or behind the scenes doing photo shoots. To me, the most important thing is education and building a culture of hairdressers that lift each other up. Together we can achieve so much more and leave a legacy worth being proud of.
Short term goals:
To advance in the Hair Community by working up the ladder for an amazing salon. I want to take on more leadership roles and build my portfolio as much as possible. I want to take on these challenges and handle them gracefully and professionally. Staying up to date with the latest hair and fashion trends by taking classes and continuing my education I feel are essential so that I can take care of my clientele to the best of my abilities. I would love to travel to New York, Los Angeles, Paris or Milan to take classes, work backstage for a fashion show, or do hair for a photo shoot.
Long term goals:
Austin has excellent female role models such as Rochelle Rae, Linda Asaf and Kendra Scott. These women are an inspiration and have made me realize that my dreams are tangible. I would love to be the Artistic Director for a major product line and win NAHA one day. Editorial print work and education are what I am most passionate about. At the same time, I want to continue to build my clientele and relationships in the Austin community.
Patience, organization, kindness, and the ability to stay calm are qualities I strive to use in my daily life. And if I want to roll with the big guys I can’t sweat the small stuff. I continue to work on my confidence and attitude. I must say the more I participate in events, get recognition, and receive great feed back the more I know that I am in the right place at the right time.
